Drones at #TheOpen 2014

@FutureAerial are excited to be back at #TheOpen in 2014.

So how exactly do we use drone technology to add value to such a World Class sporting event?

Stunning 3D visuals for live broadcast is a must and it’s something we’ve been doing for years. Done. In the bag.  This year however, we have been busy helping to solve a packing problem.

Is packing a problem at The Open, I hear you say.

Well actually yes, and here’s why…

Every large event these days has a small city of hospitality marquees, temporary stands, audio-visual equipment, stalls, backup generators etc. In fact, logistics of all types need to be packed in to exactly the right location across a sprawling site.

When a venue plays host to a recurring event or similar events, it would be madness to re-invent the wheel each time. Future Aerial solves the problem by using state-of-the-art drones or UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) to map and survey the whole area.

Fast and cost effective, our technology puts ultra high definition aerial image data at the fingertips of event planners. Gone are the days of having to thumb through old plans trying to remember why that marquee wouldn’t fit there and the mobile camera crane had to go somewhere else.  Welcome to the future of event logistics!

We can’t show all the data collected for obvious reasons but here is a sneak preview:

Camp Alphaville

Thanks to all at the FT’s Camp Alphaville event last week, it was a pleasure for us to debate the future of unmanned aviation alongside the fascinating subject of autonomous driverless cars and the 3D printing revolution. We also manage to get a few aerials of the beautiful grounds of the HAC during the conference.
